For my top five Friday, I am going to tell you about a few things I have been obsessed with lately. OBsessed! I tell you!
First up, Mustard Bath. While I was sick, C posted on Facebook that we had tried everything and I was just not getting better. A few of our friends posted about this Mustard Bath and we had never heard of it. Last week, after having to leave work early we went straight to the Co-Op and bought it. Now, this mix smells kind of weird and turns the bathtub green and you have to sit in it for 20 minutes, but I swear to you I started to get better the next day. Now that C is sick, she took a bath in it too last night, and seriously, she said she felt 100 times better this morning! Hippie voodoo? Maybe. Or maybe mustard is more magical than we thought!
Now, the thing I miss most about doing my vintage pop-up sales is being able to see the smiles on my customers' faces when they find something they love (cheesy, but true). I also miss getting to style my friends and pick out outfits for them and sell vintage while drinking mimosas but that is neither here nor there. Yesterday, I received the most amazing comment from a customer, and really, it made my day. This is the vintage Avon necklace that she bought:
And this is what she said: "Long ago in 1984 I wore that very necklace on my High School graduation, years later let a friend borrow it and I never saw it again till now...wow." Isn't that amazing?!
Now, the next thing I wanted to share was my new homemade dog treat recipe. The pugs are obsessed with these, and they know, somehow, when I am making them and sit right at my feet (from the time I get the ingredients out until they are actually cool enough for them to eat). They are so easy and quick and you know everything you put into them, so you know that they are healthy. :) They also make a great gift for your friends and family with dogs. For my recipe, I don't measure, so you don't have to either. Just put a good amount of whole wheat flour in a mixing bowl, sprinkle some salt and baking powder in and mix it all together. Then add a sprinkle of flax seeds, a scoop of peanut butter, (chopped carrots if your dogs like carrots, mine do), a splash of vanilla, a handful of oats, and finally about a cup of milk (soy, almond, whatever is in your fridge). It should make a consistency of playdough. You roll it out, use cookie cutters to make small bite-size shapes and cook them at 350 degrees until they are crispy and brown. Your dogs will love them - promise! And, aren't they cute?
And, last, but not least, I wanted to share a cute store I found on etsy recently: RACHELelise. This gal makes all of these purses by hand and they are super cute and very reasonable priced! I have three that I would really like and I am sad I didn't find her shop until after the holidays or I would have had one on my wish list!
Wishing you all a fabulous weekend!
Big hugs!

ReplyDeleteThat bow necklace is so cute! And those skinny jeans look awesome - I'd love to try them on, even if I am sure they'd be awful on me.

Those jeans are cute. I always seem to have trouble finding skinny jeans that are long enough, for some reason.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you guys are feeling better! I've never heard of mustard bath and I'm a natural remedy junky- I'm going to have to remember that :) I love, love, love those bags and might need to splurge on some new jeans- high-waist is the way to go. I will email you back soon, my friend! I'm so run down and behind on EVERYTHING!! xo
ReplyDeleteAw sorry to hear you guys were sick...but glad you found some hippie voodoo magic sickness cure hehe :) Looks like those jeans are really amazing, wish you'd posted pics of you IN them! I'm always looking for high-waisted pants that don't make my thighs look like elephants.

As a semi-hippie who is currently home sick, I am VERY intrigued by the mustard bath. I usually say that yoga cures everything (super obnoxious of me, I know), but when you don't even feel like getting up, camel pose seems impossible. Mustard bath, here I come.
